Jessica Son recently graduated William G. Enloe High School, a public magnet school in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was chosen as a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist, an AP Scholar with Honor, and a winner of the Wade Edwards Short Fiction Award sponsored by Senator John Edwards. In high school, Jessica was also an active member of the National Honor Society, Girls' Varsity Tennis Team, Wind Ensemble, Key Club, and Peer Tutoring Program.

Jessica is a third-year student in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. She is majoring in biomedical engineering with a concentration in pre-med. Jessica volunteered in clinical work at Raleigh Community Hospital in high school before transitioning to research in the Duke Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program, where she has been working for the past two years. She is currently on the Duke Club Tennis team and will be involved in a community service project next semester in which members of the team will teach tennis to kids in the community on a weekly basis.
