Kelley Chuang is currently a sophomore at Duke University majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Chinese. She is from Broomfield, Colorado, and graduated valedictorian from the International Baccalaureate Program at Thornton High School in 2004. In high school, Kelley was concertmaster of her school orchestra and the District Honors Orchestra, and was a second violin in the Denver Young Artists' Orchestra. She participated in and won first place in the piano division of the TASHCO Young Artists Festival. Kelley also ran cross country and track for two years.

At Duke, Kelley is program coordinator of the Taiwanese Student Association and a volunteer at the Duke Children's Hospital and Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit. She has worked with Dr. Pei Zhou on the E6 oncoprotein and its role in the human papillomavirus. Kelley hopes to attend medical school after graduation and to practice medicine in rural China.
