Matthew Mian
Chief Curriculum Officer

Matthew Mian is a senior at Duke University majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Mathematics. He has been a part of InnoWorks since its inception. In addition to helping organize and plan the first InnoWorks program in the summer of 2004, Matt also served as a student mentor. Matt was a key part of the 2005 InnoWorks program, helping to recruit students from local schools, develop the "Making Sense of Senses" curriculum, organize the logistics of the program, and evaluated the program impact on both students and mentors. Currently, Matt is leading the development of the 2006 InnoWorks Curriculum: "Explorations."

During his time at Duke, Matt has also mentored in Durham middle schools, volunteered in an orphanage in Tanzania, served as a teaching assistant for several Duke courses, conducted research projects in Biochemistry, Mathematics, and Biomedical Engineering, and won an international mathematical modeling competition. After graduating from Duke this May, Matt will spend his summer repairing medical equipment in a third world hospital. Matt ultimately hopes to pursue a career in academic medicine. He will begin study at Harvard Medical School this August.
