Jonatan Hernandez Rosa

Co-Operations Chair

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jonatan Hernandez Rosa arrived to New York City in 2004 to attend New York Universityís College of Arts and Science. He graduated in 2008 with Latin honors, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and completing a minor in Spanish Literature. Upon graduating he remained in New York City to begin his medical education at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

At Mount Sinai, he is involved in the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership, a student run health clinic providing medical care for the uninsured population of East Harlem. He serves with its administration as a Clinical Manager in addition to volunteering as a Junior Clinician and translator throughout the year. Jonatan is currently involved in research in the Department of General Surgery of The Mount Sinai Medical Center, looking at the disparities in presentation and outcome in the surgical field.

While achieving his undergraduate degree, Jonatan had the opportunity to volunteer as a translator in Saint Vincentís Hospitalís Emergency Room. He also played Varsity Soccer with the New York University Violets and represented Puerto Rico internationally as a member of the Under-23 Puerto Rican national team. In his spare time he still likes participating in athletic activities and enjoys exploring the city of New York.
