Roberto Vargas

2009 Senior Staff

Hi, I'm Roberto Vargas. I was probably the youngest staff member this year, as I am entering my senior year at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I was first involved with the InnoWorks program through my sister, who was involved during her undergraduate studies at Duke University.

I like mathematics and chemistry particularly because I feel they are some of the best ways to interpret the world around us. I love the sciences, they come naturally to me and I feel that I should transmit that enthusiasm to other people. Kids especially need someone to push them into a direction in which they can continue. If they decide that the sciences do not interest them, at least they had the opportunity to discover a passion.

Despite having been cobbled together at the last minute because of unavoidable circumstances, I still believe that this camp was wildly successful in helping these kids discover a new interest in the sciences. This success has only been possible through the dedicated efforts of several diverse groups and excellent leadership of all experienced members of InnoWorks.

Roberto is considering his college choices. His sister, of course, may want to help influence this decision.
