Michael Fu

2009 Curriculum Officer (Hearing)

Michael is new to the Penn InnoWorks team. He is excited about working with close friends, forming new friendships, and helping younger students develop a curiosity for science. In his three years at Penn, as both a bioengineer and member of the engineering community, Michael has come to embrace volunteering. His experiences in New Orleans with Penn Communitech, at Children’s Hospital as a Child Life Volunteer, and even in Cameroon as a member of Engineer’s Without Borders have strengthened his desire to commit to a year of active volunteer work before pursuing a career in medicine. In other news, Michael spends much of his ‘free time’ as a ‘lab rat’ conducting research in the Cancer Biology Department in the School of Medicine. Much of his other free time is spent playing water polo. After a successful high school career, which culminated in a state championship, Michael continues to endorse the sport and is the president and captain of the Men’s Water Polo team at Penn.

During the glorious months of college football, Michael is known to his friends as the biggest LSU football fan in Philadelphia and can be heard celebrating touchdowns, first downs, and national championships. Michael would like to give a darn strong high five to LSU coach Les Miles, his parents, his wonderful girlfriend, Penn InnoWorks Director Abhi Hendi, and of course Katie, the best Airedale Terrier ever!
