Kristin Owyang

2011 Chief Funding Officer

Kristin Owyang is a fifth-year undergraduate studying Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology at UCLA. She is serving as Chief Funding Officer for the universityís InnoWorks chapter.

Kristin developed an interest in biology after taking a general education science course during her first year at UCLA. She is currently working as an undergraduate researcher in the Martinez-Agosto laboratory in the UCLA Human Genetics Department. She studies the regulation of growth and body size using the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, as a model organism. Kristin was awarded the UCLA Science Poster Day Deanís Prize for her research in 2009, and was a UC Berkeley Amgen Scholar in 2010.

Kristin enjoys baking, hiking, and gardening, and loves to play board games with friends and family. She plans to volunteer at Equality California and work as an AmeriCorps service member before applying to graduate school.
