I am a junior at The Johns Hopkins University double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics and Statistics. I joined United InnoWorks Academy because of my passion towards science and teaching. All throughout high school, I expanded my passion for science by participating in competitions that challenged my intellect in science and math. Being a participant was one thing that I enjoyed, but I also enjoyed teaching. I worked to develop the National Honor Society (NHS) teaching program at my high school. Members of the NHS helped tutor fellow students who were having trouble in certain classes. In addition, I volunteered at my church. I taught Sunday School to 6th and 7th grade students and took care of kids during numerous camps and retreats. My experiences participating in engineering activities and teaching have led me to pursue a PhD once I graduate and I want to provide other students the same opportunities I had to explore science to other students.

At Hopkins, Iím currently doing research at both the Institute of Computational Medicine and the Center of Imaging Science. Iím also a member of a synthetic biology competition called iGEM. In my free time, I enjoy programming, playing soccer, cooking, playing chess, and reading. I hope that through InnoWorks, I can allow students to become fascinated with science.
