David Carrega

2012 Mentor

David has recently graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). During his undergraduate years, his summer activities varied dramatically. He has worked with deep space telecommunication systems at JPL and designed object tracking software for use in the Laboratory for Intelligent Mechanical Systems at Northwestern University. Most recently, he was part of CHIP 2011, Caltech's entry in the Solar Decathlon sponsored by the DOE.

Aside from research, David was actively involved in the Caltech Varsity Baseball Team and the Caltech Latino Association of Students in Engineering and Sciences (CLASES). During his tenure as Vice President of CLASES, he successfully directed a weeklong celebration of Latino culture and promoted minority access to higher education.

Currently, David is exploring different career paths. Law, education, engineering, and the military are all potential paths. He is excited to explore the field of education with InnoWorks.
