Melanie Shapiro

2013-2014 Co-Director

Melanie Shapiro is a senior undergraduate Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics major at the University of Maryland. This is her third year working with InnoWorks and she is looking forward to getting campers excited about science!

Melanie hopes to pursue a career in biomedical research. She works at an immunology lab at the University of Maryland and is very involved with the Gemstone Honors Research program as co-chair of the Academic Affairs committee of the Gemstone Student Council. As Co-Director of the UMD InnoWorks chapter, she is excited to see our camp grow and develop as UMD InnoWorks implements more robotics technology and invites new speakers to inspire students to pursue careers in science. She really loves working with children and canít wait for this summerís InnoWorks camp!
