Iliya Sabzevari

2014-2015 Deputy Director

Iliya Sabzevari is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Chemical Engineering. Originally from Orlando, Florida, he was raised in Plano, Texas and attended Plano West Senior High School. Growing up, his father, an electrical engineer, introduced him to the fields of science, math, and engineering. His father was his main influence for his academic curiosity, pushing him to challenge himself throughout his education. During his high school career, Iliya took many advanced placement courses in math and science. He also devoted much of his time to volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club, working with young kids to help them succeed in school.

At the University of Texas, Iliya hopes to gain the knowledge and skills to become a successful chemical engineer and further his education at graduate school. He is an active member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Texas Menís Water Polo Club. He hopes to become involved with on campus research in the Chemical Engineering department.

Iliya is excited to be a part of the InnoWorks chapter at The University of Texas. With 2 younger brothers, he understands how important an influential figure is to young children. Iliya would not be where he is today without the special influence his father had on him. He hopes to help create that influence in underserved children throughout the Austin area.

In his spare time, Iliya enjoys attending UT sporting events, supporting his Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks, lifting, and playing water polo.
