Sonia So

Sonia So, a freshman at the University of Arizona, is originally from Los Angeles, California, and is a Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics and Molecular and Cellular Biology double major. She graduated from Mesquite High School, where she played badminton, was a yearbook editor, competed in speech and debate, won the Gilbert District Writing Contest, and was a peer tutor as an executive board member of the IGNITE mentoring program. Sonia also volunteered at her local horse ranch and taught piano to young children.

At the U of A, Sonia works as a research assistant in a plant pathology and mycology laboratory where she works to document over 20 species of the fungus Alternaria Porri. In addition to leading InnoWorks’ Information and Publicity Committee, she enjoys participating in the University Community Chorus, teaching and playing piano, and working with kids.
